Reviews

Luke Bond makes a confident debut recording here, with a varied programme from neatly executed Widor and Mendelssohn to very effective arrangements of Walton’s ‘Spitfire’ Prelude & Fugue and Grainger’s Handel in the Strand. The latter is no mean feat, and the graceful  sounds of Truro’s Willis maintain the orchestral feel of this virtuosic entertainment. Curiously placed either side of Grainger’s frivolity are two more serious contemporary works: MacMillan’s meditative White note paraphrase and David Bednall’s exuberant Magna voce cane et rnagno cum jubilo, which delivers exactly what the title suggests. The fine ‘Mighty Voice’ of Truro Cathedral Organ has much to say in the hands of Mr Bond. Choir & organ January 2014

‘All in all this is a glorious CD, good listening and great fun.  I highly recommend it.  The wide variety of music makes it appealing to music lovers generally.  Luke Bond is clearly one of our leading players and is served well by Regent Records who have faithfully captured both sound and ambience of Truro Cathedral.’ Laudate 2014
